    Description of target group: The target group may involve people with higher or general education, or representatives of contiguous professions, who, considering their activities or future perspectives, are interested in attending the course and/or need to prove their competences in food safety sphere.

    Precondition for joining the course: Basic level of general education; additional requirement – minimum age – 18.

    Purpose of the course and its anticipated outcomes: The purpose of the course is to train food safety specialists who will be able to assess the requirements for labeling various food categories, general principles, requirements and procedures of placing a variety of information about the nutritional value of the food item, as well as vitamins, minerals and other substances; to control labels, presentation, advertisements at various stages of food placement on the market.

    A student will acquire knowledge about legislative requirements related to labeling various food categories; in addition, they will familiarize themselves with the following issues:

    General review of the rule on providing information to consumers, definition of terms;

    Principles of presenting compulsory information about food; responsibilities of business operators;

    Requirements towards ingredients necessary for food production;

    Labeling certain substances or products causing allergy or increased sensitivity; product lifetime;

    Requirements related to nutritional value;

    Rule of placing information related to nutritional value and health during food presentation or advertising;

    Requirements towards general principles and procedures for adding vitamins, minerals and some other substances to food; nutrients subject to food rationing;

    Requirements towards labeling various food categories and food additives.
