Visiting Professorial Chair in Georgian Languages, Culture and Society at Leiden University

The Visiting Professorial Chair in Georgian Languages, Culture and Society at Leiden University was instituted in 2011.

The purpose of the Chair is to teach Georgian as a foreign language at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Leiden on a short-term basis; it also aims at nurturing collaborative research interactions between Chair nominees from TSU and Leiden University’s outstanding academic community. The main goal of the Visiting Chair is to enlarge knowledge and understanding of contemporary Georgian reality among students, academic staff as well as the Dutch government experts and the Dutch business community.

Each year an eminent scholar of TSU with a strong international record, recommended by the Faculty of Humanities at TSU, is invited to occupy the Visiting Professorial Chair at Leiden University.
