IREX supports independent media and greater access to quality education and information. IREX provides technical and strategic advice to media organizations and media professionals, facilitates partnerships between media outlets in Georgia and the United States, and helps modernize public libraries. IREX is also advancing higher and secondary education administration and the professional development of teachers. Georgia is also home to many IREX-trained teachers and exchange program alumni.
