The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, together with the deans of the faculties and members of the commission, announced the nominees for the scholarship competition named after the renowned public figure and politician, distinguished representative of Georgian diplomacy Akaki Chkhenkeli.
From the seven identified nominees, the scholarship will be awarded to one student who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance, has published scientific works, and actively participates in scientific conferences. The scholarship is awarded on a monthly basis throughout the academic year, comprising a total of GEL 300.
Additionally, the winning student shall be awarded a one-time bonus of GEL 3,000 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Akaki Chkhenkeli Scholarship is bestowed annually by the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University upon a single undergraduate student enrolled in one of the institution’s primary academic divisions. The objective of establishing the scholarship is to provide encouragement to undergraduate students and to facilitate the promotion of Akaki Chkhenkeli’s work.
The scholarship is bestowed upon the student who has demonstrated the most exemplary academic and scientific achievements during the preceding academic year.
The selection of candidates for scholarship funding is conducted by the scholarship awarding commission. Candidates are evaluated based on two criteria: academic performance and scientific output. Academic performance is calculated as the average of the grades obtained by the student in the previous two semesters at the university. Scientific output is assessed based on the quality and impact of published or printed articles in scientific journals and the extent of participation in scientific conferences and conference materials.
