Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted the Second International Symposium of the Institute of Visual Arts at the Faculty of Humanities.
This year’s symposium, “Fine Arts - Tradition, Opportunities and Challenges,” was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of the Georgian artist, Irakli Parjiani, and was organized by the TSU Faculty of Humanities.
Darejan Tvaltvadze, dean of the TSU Faculty of Humanities, welcomed the guests and spoke about Parjiani’s contribution to Georgian culture.
“Irakli Parjiani was an artist who restored and continued traditions, as evidenced by each of his works. His paintings on religious themes are particularly noteworthy. Each of Parjiani's works is an important part of our history. His technique, themes, and colors are also actively used by modern artists,” Tvaltvadze said.
TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili also spoke about Parjiani’s contributions and thanked the organizers and audience members.
Levan Silagadze, the head of the TSU Institute of Visual Arts, discussed the artistic value and significance of Parjiani's works. As part of the event, an exhibition of students’ paintings was held.
