At a meeting with members of student clubs at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University - Political School, Ilia and Daviti, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, TSU professor, delivered a public lecture entitled “Georgia’s Foreign Policy Priorities.”
The discussion focused on the following key topics: Georgia’s foreign policy vector, European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and parliamentary diplomacy. Erekle Astakhishvili, Deputy Rector of TSU, was present at the meeting.
Nikoloz Samkharadze provided the young people with comprehensive information pertaining to matters of interest, including security challenges, the difficult situation in the occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, and the potential threats emanating from Russia.
“At the meeting with the students, I presented an overview of Georgia’s foreign policy priorities. Subsequently, we engaged in a question-and-answer session that delved into the complex and sensitive issues surrounding Abkhazia, the Tskhinvali region, the country’s economic development, our projects, and poverty alleviation. A comprehensive array of matters pertaining to both foreign relations and domestic affairs was addressed. It is encouraging to observe that the students are well-informed, actively engaged in the country’s daily affairs, and demonstrate a keen interest in contributing to its development,” stated Nikoloz Samkharadze.
Saba Gogiberidze, one of the students participating in the meeting, noted that the lecture, which focused on critical and pertinent issues, aroused considerable interest from the students. “We had many questions regarding the country’s foreign policy, European integration, and other pertinent matters, to which we received comprehensive answers,” said Saba Gogiberidze.
Members of student clubs at various universities in Georgia have the opportunity to engage in discourse with distinguished figures of their choice, including politicians, athletes, representatives from the arts, etc.
