As part of the University Book Festival, a concert of Georgian opera music “Opera in Your City” was held at Tbilisi State University.
Soloists of the Zakaria Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theater performed famous opera arias at TSU.
The concert featured the premiere of the musical “Ode to the University”, created by composer Revaz Laghidze in 1968 for the 50th anniversary of the university.
Among other musical compositions, the performance of “Iavnana (Lullaby)” dedicated by Zakaria Paliashvili to Ivane Javakhishvili was held.
The opera concert was attended by Jaba Samushia, the Rector of TSU; Tamar Gvamichava, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Kakhaber Labuchidze, the Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council Education and Culture Commission; students, professors, and administrative staff.
The concert featured members of the TSU “Skhveni” Theater, who performed scenes depicting the relationship between Ivane Javakhishvili and Zakaria Paliashvili, as well as other representatives of the university and the Georgian opera world.
