Jaba Samushia Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Civil Integration of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia
The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia and the Minister of Justice and Civil Integration of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Dzigua have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The memorandum aims to implement joint projects between TSU and the Ministry of Justice and Civil Integration of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
Rector Jaba Samushia stated that TSU, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, is implementing a series of programs designed to provide support to Abkhaz students and newcomers. At the TSU Center for Lifelong Learning, entrants residing in the occupied territories have the opportunity to enhance their proficiency in Georgian and concurrently enroll in relevant Georgian courses for their desired higher education program. “We are ready to support the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia in implementing various educational projects and promoting the full integration of our compatriots residing in the occupied territories into society,” said Jaba Samushia.
Giorgi Dzigua, the Minister of Justice and Civil Integration of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, said that students from Abkhazia are currently enrolled at Tbilisi State University, which means that the artificially severed ties between Georgia and its region of Abkhazia are being restored naturally. “We are approached by Abkhazians who want to obtain citizenship, they need to know the basics of Georgian language, Georgian history and law. With the support of the TSU Center for Lifelong Learning, we will be able to help these people,” said Giorgi Dzigua.
