The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, together with the representatives of the TSU administration, held a working meeting with the staff of the TSU Scientific Research Center of Georgian-Abkhazian Relations to discuss the importance of the Center’s activities and its development strategy.
Rector Jaba Samushia stated that the strengthening of the Scientific Research Center of Georgian-Abkhazian Relations and its proactive work not only meet the interests of our university but also serve the broader agenda of the state. “The publications prepared in this Center, the teaching of the Abkhaz language, the Abkhaz language Internet radio and many other important projects implemented in this Center are of state importance. I am ready to help in any way, including in the search for donors, to make the Center’s activities even more active. We should contribute to the restoration of relations with our activities,” Jaba Samushia noted.
Zurab Shengelia, the director of the TSU Scientific Research Center of Georgian-Abkhazian Relations, said that the Center has existed as a structural unit of the university for 15 years with the aim of studying and researching Georgian-Abkhazian problems, as well as teaching and learning the Abkhaz language.
The participants discussed the development and promotion of the Abkhaz language teaching. They also planned to publish a brochure on Abkhazia, prepare digital versions of existing publications, and organize a meeting and joint event for Georgian and Abkhazian students in Turkey.
