Jaba Samushia Attends Final Discussion of Georgian Doctoral Students’ Research Results at University of Texas

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University (TSU), Academician Jaba Samushia, accompanied by a delegation from the University, including Chancellor Lasha Saghinadze and Head of the Foreign Relations Department Tea Gergedava, is paying a working visit to the University of Texas at Dallas. The visit is part of a joint project between TSU and the University of Texas, the purpose of which is to support PhD students and young scientists in natural sciences and economics, as well as to promote the development of their research and academic skills.

TSU scholarship holders Ana Chokheli, Giorgi Mindiashvili, Tamar Tabatadze, Giorgi Takadze, Tinatin Tsiskaridze and Tamar Papachashvili, selected through the mobility and research promotion program competition, are undergoing intensive eight-week training in the laboratories and research centers of the University of Texas. The training period is designed to facilitate the improvement of their doctoral theses, the execution of experiments, and the establishment of professional contacts with local academic staff.

 

In the current academic year, TSU already has its second cohort at the University of Texas. The TSU delegation attended the final discussion of Georgian doctoral students’ research results at the University of Texas, got acquainted with their research topics and scientific achievements.

The mobility program is a partnership between Tbilisi State University and the University of Texas. It aims to strengthen research potential in Georgia. Last year, six students took part in the program. They are all studying for a doctorate in different scientific fields.
