TSU’s archery section was established in 1972 by Givi Davitashvili and during the entire history of its existence, it brought up both Georgian and Olympic champions (Ketevan Losaberidze – 1980).

TSU’s archery team is participating in various tournaments for Georgia’s championship, where the teams from Kutaisi, Batumi and Akhaltsikhe are also participating. In 2012, TSU won the team championship for Tbilisi Cup and took the 3rd place at Sport Universiade. 

On May 28, 2013, Archery Universiade was held, where TSU students achieved success:

Giorgi Popiashvili – 1st place

Levan Chitishvili – 3rd place

Mariam Mikeltadze – 2nd place

Mariam Gogichaishvili – 3rd place

In addition, Levan Chitishvili, Gvantsa Gvasalia and Giorgi Popiashvili gained victory in other competitions:

In 2014, TSU students Guram Glonti and Levan Chitishvili achieved success at various competitions.

At the first stage, archers are selected according to their capabilities; Any TSU student is eligible to undergo registration. Davit Tevdoradze, FITA’s Level 3 certified trainer, Olympic Committee certificate holder, serves as the team’s head coach.
