The Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Georgia, Walid Abu Haya.
They discussed prospects for deepening relations between TSU and Israeli educational institutions, including implementing joint educational and research projects, strengthening involvement in international initiatives, and defining new areas of future cooperation. Tbilisi State University has fruitful partnerships with three leading Israeli universities: Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Bar-Ilan University, and Ariel University.
TSU offers an undergraduate program in Hebrew Studies. The Hebrew and Aramaic Studies Department has been operating since 1944, and there is also an Israel Center that actively participates in Georgian-Jewish scientific research, cultural initiatives, and educational events.
