Tbilisi State University Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia opened the 10th International Scientific Conference “Challenges of Globalization in Economics and Business” of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business. The event was attended by Giorgi Gaganidze, dean of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business, academics and researchers from Georgian and foreign higher education institutions and research institutes.
In his welcome speech, Rector Samushia emphasized the importance of economic science for the country’s development and stated that “in any matter, it is necessary to listen to scientists and specialists in various fields. Without dialogue between the political and intellectual elites, the country’s development will be hindered. We are facing great challenges in both geopolitical and economic terms. Modern challenges can alter the economic landscape of the region. A lot is to be done to be ready to face difficulties,” said Jaba Samushia.
Jeffrey David Sachs, Columbia University Professor and TSU Honorary Doctor, participated in the conference with an interesting overview of the world economic situation. He focused on key macroeconomic data, especially emphasizing the economic dominance of the United States and China in the world market, changes in current trends, Georgia’s role as a small yet geopolitically important country, and its place on the global economic map.
The conference will feature 12 scientific thematic sections, including econometrics, economic policy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international business.
