Elections of TSU Representative Council (Senate) Members

The academic personnel and students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) have elected the members of the Representative Council (Senate). The elections were held at seven faculties and 16 research institutes of TSU. The voting was held at 23 polling stations.
 

The Senate elections were held to elect new members of the Representative Council instead of those, whose mandates have expired. As a result, 74 members of the Representative Council were elected, including 32 – academic personnel, 26 – students, and 16 representatives of research institutes. The polling stations were opened at 10 am and closed at 5 pm. The elections were held in a calm atmosphere and no violations were reported.
 

A total of 96 candidates were registered for the elections, including 35 professors, 43 students and 18 representatives of research institutes.
 

The Senate shall be elected for a term of four years from amongst the representatives of the faculties, separately by students and academic staff, pro rata to their number in main educational units at the moment of electing the Representative Council. The students shall comprise one third of the members of the Representative Council.
