Acting Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Jaba Samushia met with the professors and invited lecturers of TSU who will give lectures in European universities for one week in the spring semester of next year. As part of the competition for the fall semester of 2022-23, about 60 academic staff members from all seven faculties won a teaching mobility grant under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program.

At the meeting, Acting Rector Jaba Samushia spoke about the expansion of TSU partner relations with European universities within the framework of the mobility of professors and students. He noted that next year TSU students and academics will participate in more exchange programs. “We intend to reflect the activities carried out during the exchange programs on the workload of the professors. In addition, we plan to introduce an additional incentive program for those professors who will deliver lectures at European universities within the framework of the exchange program. At the same time, we also plan to improve and diversify the English-language training courses that we offer to foreign students who have arrived within the framework of exchange and mobility programs,” Jaba Samushia said.

Within the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program, TSU academic staff will conduct an 8-hour lecture course in European universities. The program is fully financed by the European Union within the framework of targeted grants obtained by TSU and its partner universities.

Since 2015, Tbilisi State University has been participating in more than 420 EU-funded projects together with more than 150 universities from 29 European countries. Tea Gergedava, head of the TSU Foreign Relations Department, noted that “since the beginning of the project, we have carried out up to 4,000 mobilities - we have sent our professors and students to European universities, and received students and academic staff from European universities to TSU. Within the framework of this program, only in February 2023, we will receive 70 representatives of universities from 21 European countries to TSU,” she said.
