Lasha Saghinadze, Head of the TSU Administration, Kakhaber Cheishvili, Head of the TSU Vocational Education Center, his deputy, Levan Tsikaridze and teachers congratulated students on the beginning of the new academic year at the TSU Vocational Education Center.

During the new academic year, about 400 students will study on eight vocational programs of TSU in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.

TSU Chancellor Lasha Saghinadze noted that a record high number of students were enrolled at the TSU Vocational Education Center this year.

“The Vocational Education Center was established three years ago at Tbilisi State University, and throughout this period, many new programs were launched. Student enrollment has doubled, and we plan to continue this trend in the future. Vocational education and its popularization represent a priority for the state. Therefore, we support this process, and we hope that our graduates will be actively employed on the labor market,” Lasha Saghinadze said.

In 2022, TSU Vocational Education Center accepted students in Tbilisi and Kutaisi for the following programs: Accounting, Preschool Education, Customs Study, Event Management, Office Work, Financial Services, Library Work, Freight Transportation/ Logistics.

Kakhaber Cheishvili, Head of the TSU Vocational Education Center, noted that the programs implemented by the center are designed to make the graduates competitive on the labor market. “Students who study at the center not only get theoretical knowledge, but also undergo serious practical courses. Their teachers are successful people in various fields. Therefore, the practical experience shared by them is one of the prerequisites for success,” Cheishvili said, adding that as part of its inclusive education process, the Center actively involves students with special educational needs in the learning process.

2105 applicants were registered for the 2022 enrollment. Among 400 students enrolled in the programs there are people of different ages and professions who want to master a new profession. Mariam Sebua, a student of the vocational program Event Management, already has a bachelor’s degree in psychology; however, she decided to get a qualification in another profession. “I am so close to art, theater, I think this program will help me develop my abilities. This program will help me grow professionally - I will organize more events and I will have more knowledge and resources,” she noted.

Vocational education programs have been implemented at TSU since 2007. All vocational programs are fully funded by the state.
