The main event of the year, the graduation ceremony for the class of 2026, was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Givi Mikanadze, Deputy Minister Zviad Gabisonia, attended the event, along with members of the TSU Academic Council, administrative staff, invited guests, graduates and their relatives.

“You have completed an important stage of your life and now you face a great challenge - to start your professional lives independently. On this great path, remember that you are part of the great history of our country - Tbilisi State University.

Love your homeland and the people around you, because true happiness comes from love. Second, be free, because freedom is a great driving force that enables people to perform miracles throughout history.

Remember that the greatest patriot is a professional in his country and in his work. Therefore, you will only be able to conquer great heights if you love your work,” TSU Rector Jaba Samushia addressed the graduates of the class of 2026.

This year, TSU had 3,298 graduates. The most distinguished among them - the most successful graduates from all seven of the university’s bachelor's and master's degree programs - were awarded TSU Gold Medals, certificates of honor, and commemorative gifts.

The event featured materials created with modern technology. For the first time in Georgia, a 3D projection was displayed on the university’s façade. TSU professors and administrative staff performed the student anthem, “Gaudeamus.”

As part of the event, an olive tree (OLEA EUROPAEA) was planted in the name of the 2026 graduates, continuing the initiative started three years ago to create the Alumni Alley.

Before the main event, graduates and their relatives had the opportunity to take pictures in designated photo zones arranged especially for them.

After the event, an afterparty for TSU graduates was held at the Underwheel Club with the participation of Mgzavrebi, Kashia, and Levan Grdzelidze.

Over 26,000 students study at Tbilisi State University in up to 240 educational programs, including those with FIBAA and ABET international accreditations, as well as 27 foreign language programs. Through exchange programs funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+ and through bilateral institutional cooperation agreements, TSU students and academic staff study and become familiar with modern standards of higher education at over 120 universities in 29 European countries, as well as at universities in the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and China. Over 900 citizens from more than 50 countries study at TSU in over 200 English-language programs and courses.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, TSU will enroll over 8,600 new undergraduate and graduate students.
