Success of TSU Team in Jean-Pictet Competition in International Humanitarian Law

The team from Tbilisi State University (TSU) placed second in the Jean-Pictet International Competition in International Humanitarian Law, a prestigious event that provides students with unique training in international law.

 

The competition selects the top 28 teams from five continents. During one week, participants in the competition will engage in simulation tasks related to persistent issues in international humanitarian law, international refugee law, and international criminal law.

 

This year, the competition was held in Bredene (Kingdom of Belgium) and Tbilisi State University was represented by BA and MA students of international law from the Faculty of Law - Mariam Gugava, Khatia Chichinadze and Shalva Khizanishvili. The TSU team successfully competed in the semi-finals and final rounds against teams from leading universities in the USA, France (Sciences Po Paris), Singapore, Switzerland (Basel), Argentina (Buenos Aires), India, Poland and other countries.

 

The team received training from the Institute of International Law at the Faculty of Law of TSU. Their participation in the international competition was supported by the Faculty of Law of TSU and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), including the International Committee of the Red Cross Georgia • ICRC Georgia office.
