TSU Deputy Rector Participates in the 16th Congress of Rectors from the Black Sea Region

 

The Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University, Erekle Astakhishvili is participating in the 16th Congress of Rectors from the Black Sea Region, which is being held at Istanbul University under the auspices of the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN).

 

Erekle Astakhishvili presented the vision of Tbilisi State University on the ways to overcome the challenges faced by the academic community of the Black Sea region.

 

The Black Sea Universities Network was established in 1998 and represents the largest platform for inter-university cooperation in the extended Black Sea region. It encompasses 120 universities from the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

 

The objective of the Congress is to deliberate on strategies for advancing higher education in the Black Sea region and to draft a pact for the future of universities, which will be presented to the UN General Assembly in New York in September of this year.

 

Secretary General of BSEC, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Lazar Comanescu, former President of Romania Emil Constantinescu, President of the World Academy of Art and Sciences Garry Jacobs, Secretary General of BSUN Eden Mamut and other distinguished guests are participating in the event in an advisory capacity.

 

Tea Gergedava, head of the Department of Foreign Relations of TSU, is also attending the 16th Congress of Rectors from the Black Sea Region.
