TSU Graduates Win Tsinandali Award

The 2024 Tsinandali Award in Natural Sciences was bestowed upon Elene Katsadze and Nino Revazashvili, graduates of the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of Tbilisi State University (TSU).

The work submitted to the competition entitled “Jet formation model from accretion discs of electron-ion photon gas” has been published in the Journal of High Energy Astrophysics (Vol.43 pp 20-30, 2024). The authors of the paper are: Elene Katsadze, Nino Revazashvili, and Nana Shatashvili. Additionally, the same work was also presented as a poster at the ICTP Fusion Energy School (Trieste, Italy, 2024), where it was awarded the distinction of Best Poster.

Nino Revazashvili and Elene Katsadze are graduates of the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of TSU (Bachelor's and Master's degrees). At both levels, they conducted research under the supervision of Professor Nana Shatashvili, Head of the Department of Astrophysics. Elene Katsadze is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Rochester (USA), while Nino Revazashvili is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Physics at TSU and is also the head of the observatory laboratory works. It is noteworthy that the 2023 Tsinandali Award in Natural Sciences was bestowed upon Ketevan Kotorashvili, who is also a graduate of TSU. She also conducted her undergraduate and graduate research under the guidance of Professor Nana Shatashvili.
