TSU Faculty of Medicine Delegation Visits Acibadem University to Foster Academic and Research Collaboration
A delegation from the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University (TSU) recently concluded a productive working visit to Acibadem University in Turkey. The visit aimed to explore and discuss future cooperation between the two prestigious institutions, focusing on student and academic staff exchange opportunities and the development of joint research projects.
The TSU delegation included Assoc. Professor Maya Bitskinashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Professor Dimitri Kordzaia, Director of the Institute of Morphology and Head of the Department of Anatomy and Operative Surgery; and Professor Nino Sharashidze, Head of the Department of Clinical and Research Skills. They met with Nadi Bakir, Dean of the School of Medicine at Acibadem University, and other key representatives.
Acibadem University's School of Medicine provided comprehensive presentations on their medical program, highlighting their academic staff and notable scientific achievements. The meetings featured engaging discussions about potential future collaborations, with TSU representatives sharing details of their own medical program and its unique features. A significant focus was placed on contemporary issues in medical education, particularly the innovative teaching, learning, and evaluation methods employed at Acibadem University.
Plans were made to conduct professional training sessions on new approaches to medical education for TSU medical program staff during the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year.
The TSU delegation also toured the School of Medicine, the state-of-the-art Simulation Center, and University Hospitals, including Altunzade and Ataşehir. At the Simulation Center, led by Emin Aksoy, the delegation was introduced to advanced clinical and simulation teaching methods and evaluation techniques. Discussions led to plans for collaborative projects to enhance the simulation center at TSU's Faculty of Medicine.
During their hospital visits, TSU representatives engaged with specialists from various fields and agreed on mutual sharing of digital histological preparations. Plans were also made for doctors from Acibadem clinics to participate in the diagnostic process.
The visit was organized by the founders of the International Center for Health and Tourism, TSU alumni Ekaterine Naparidze and radiologist Vasil Gergedava. The initiative received significant support from Osman Seyoglu, head of the Acibadem Clinics Network representative office in Georgia.
This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the academic and research ties between TSU and Acibadem University, promising enhanced educational experiences and innovative collaborative projects for both institutions.
