TSU Rector Hosts Joint Delegation from South Korea and Azerbaijan

 

A trilateral conference with the participation of Georgian, South Korean and Azerbaijani archaeologists was held at Tbilisi State University. The Rector of TSU, Academician Jaba Samushia hosted the participants of the conference.

 

At the meeting, the Rector introduced the foreign colleagues to the history of the university and the country and spoke about the past and present achievements of archaeology as a scientific branch. “Today’s meeting may become a means for completely new achievements and opportunities in archaeology, which will be expanded and deepened in other fields as well,” said Rector Samushia.

 

Korean Ambassador Kim Tong Op, Korean and Azerbaijani scientists and diplomats took part in the meeting. Erekle Astakhishvili, head of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, addressed the conference participants and offered foreign colleagues joint projects with the participation and support of the Rustaveli Foundation. At the conference, Professor Young-Bae Park of Yonsei University, Korea, presented a report on wine culture and its importance. He emphasized the existence of ancient traditions of wine culture in Georgia and noted that Georgia is a very important country in terms of archaeology and other disciplines.

 

The working sessions will last two days; on the first day, the participants will present their reports on archaeology and on the second day, the delegation will visit the National Museum of Georgia and the Grakliani Hill together with their Georgian colleagues.
