TSU Students’ Involvement in Population and Agricultural Census of 2024

The Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, and the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), Gogita Todradze, met with the students and provided information about the 2024 population and agricultural census. Additionally, they offered prospective employment opportunities.

Rector Jaba Samushia underscored the significance of student employment opportunities and reaffirmed the university’s comprehensive support for the extensive census activities. At the same time, he emphasized the pivotal role that TSU students will play in the census process through their individual capabilities.

Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, spoke extensively with the students about the goals and objectives of the census, the date of the census, data collection methods, methodology and content of the questionnaire.

He stated that after special training, students will be eligible to participate in the census process in the capacity of an interviewer. He also outlined the details of the work schedule, which would span a period of two weeks and would allow for a flexible daily schedule.

The informational meeting between the students and Geostat’s Executive Director was conducted in a question-and-answer format.

The population census is scheduled to take place in Georgia between November 14 and December 19. However, due to the potential deterioration of weather conditions and challenging meteorological circumstances, the population census was conducted in some high-mountain and hard-to-reach administrative units in the period between September 18 and October 8, 2024. In particular, the following locations were included: Mestia, Lentekhi, Kazbegi, several administrative units of Dusheti (Gudamakari, Kvesheti, Khevsureti, Ukanapshavi, the villages included in Shatili, Magharoskari and Pasanauri administrative units) and the Akhmeta municipality (only the Omalo administrative unit).
