TSU Hosts Conference “Women in Innovation”

 

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a conference “Women in Science” within the framework of the CALIPER project of the EU Research and Innovation Framework Program “Horizon 2020”. The purpose of the conference was to highlight the activities of women scientists and innovators in STEM fields, share experiences, increase motivation, and promote active participation of women scientists in research. The Rector of TSU, Academician Jaba Samushia addressed the audience, focusing on the role of women scientists in the development of technologies and innovations. During the conference, participants gave presentations to share the experiences of women scientists and innovators working in STEM fields.

 

The event ended with the award ceremony of the scientist Tamar Khardziani, Doctor of Biology, the winner of the competition “Women in Science” of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation. The conference was organized by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the following persons participated in it: Erekle Astakhishvili, Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation; Mariam Lashkhi, member of the Parliamentary Permanent Council on Gender Equality and the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Education; representatives of UN Women, the Ministry of Education and Science and various higher education institutions.
