Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)

The third meeting of the “Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)” project consortium was held at Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic). TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili, Chair of the Strategic Development Council Nino Okribelashvili, and Professor Ekaterine Pirtskhalava attended the event.

 

ETHICS is a national structural reform project for Georgian universities funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program.

 

The ETHICS project aims to improve the quality of research at universities and research organizations by implementing systemic changes, introducing modern standards, and promoting scientific transparency and ethical practices.

 

The meeting covered the project’s current progress, working group activities, future plans. The partners presented reports on the following main areas: 1. Accreditation of doctoral programs and the professional training of experts; 2. Piloting the research integrity and ethics module, which aims to raise research practice standards; 3. Training ethics officers in universities and strengthening their role; 4. The work of research ethics committees and developing policy documents; 5. Implementing research integrity and ethics support services and developing responsible science communication strategy.

 

Coordinated by Ilia State University, the project provides research staff, doctoral students, and institutions with full support, including access to key resources and materials. This facilitates the implementation of high-quality research.
