Presentation of Lado Chanturia’s Jubilee Collection at TSU

 

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of the jubilee collection of Professor Lado Chanturia, a famous Georgian scientist and judge of the European Court of Human Rights.

Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University, Nino Gvenetadze, Dean of TSU Tamar Zarandia, Georgian and foreign co-authors of the collection, professors, students, and invited guests took part in the presentation.  

The collection is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Professor Lado Chanturia. The initiative to publish the collection belongs to the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University and it contains articles by both Georgian and foreign specialists in various fields of law.

Deputy Rector Nino Gvenetadze spoke about Lado Chanturia’s contribution to the formation and development of modern Georgian law. “Professor Lado Chanturia is one of the initiators of the creation of the Civil Code of Georgia. With this event, we have the opportunity to recognize his great contribution to the building and development of Georgian statehood. Lado Chanturia has always been a supporter of the University, his scientific and pedagogical work is connected with the University, his high ethical standards are appreciated both in academic circles and among students. Lado Chanturia is an educator of future professionals and a favorite lecturer of young people,” Nino Gvenetadze noted. 

During the presentation, Davit Prangishvili, head of the Academia Europaea Tbilisi Regional Hub, informed the audience that Lado Chanturia has been elected a member of the Academia Europaea.

Lado Chanturia thanked his native university and faculty for publishing the jubilee collection. “The jubilee collection reflects not only scientific work performed at the highest level, but also people with whom I have been associated during the most important periods of my life. They have played a major role in my professional life,” said Lado Chanturia.
