Presentation of Professor Nani Gelovani’s Books

A presentation of two books by Professor Nani Gelovani of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of TSU - “Islam and Muslims in Georgia (1918-1991): Historical and Regional Context” and “Islamic Culture and Civilization” - was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The book “Islam and Muslims in Georgia (1918-1991): Historical and Regional Context” is the first in Georgian and foreign historiography to comprehensively study, discuss, and analyze various aspects of the history of Islam and Muslims in Georgia within a historical and regional context. The research is based on more than 300 archival documents, most of which are presented to the scientific community for the first time.

Considering the cultural and historical specificity of the region, the history of the origin and development of Islamic culture and civilization is discussed and analyzed in the book “Islamic Culture and Civilization.” The book describes Islamic civilization as a complex phenomenon in which politics, worship, science, art, architecture, and economics constitute a complex whole.

The event was attended by Darejan Tvaltvadze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at TSU, as well as TSU professors, students, and individuals interested in the subject.
