In cooperation with Tbilisi State University, the Georgian National Museum, and the Academia Europaea Tbilisi Regional Knowledge Hub, a field practice titled “On the Traces of Antiquity in Georgia” was held at the Otar Lortkipanidze Vani Archaeological Museum.
Undergraduate and graduate students from TSU’s Faculty of Humanities, as well as international students from Italy, Brazil and Germany, participated in the program. Participants attended lectures on Greco-Roman epigraphy, worked at an archaeological site, gave presentations, and participated in a photography contest.
The following winners were revealed: Giorgi Zhuzhunashvili, Aleksandre Tavberidze and Gabriel Basilio. Tamar Rcheulishvili’s video clip received a special mention. The students received certificates, ECTS credits and a bilingual publication from the Georgian National Museum titled “History Revived Through Hellenistic Bronze Fragments.”
Prof. Dr. Tassilo Schmitt of the University of Bremen (Germany); Nino Lortkipanidze, Chief Research Fellow of the Georgian National Museum; and Irine Darchia, TSU Associate Professor, Head of Educational Programs in Classical and Greco-Roman Philology, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at TSU, led the field practice.
