On April 7, the monograph ‘The Collision of Domestic and International Norms Regulating Internal Waters and the Territorial Sea’ by Dr. Eka Siradze, Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University, was presented at the 1st Building of Tbilisi State University. The event was organized by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the International Law Institute.
The audience was welcomed by Nino Gvenetadze, Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State University and Doctor of Law; Moris Shalikashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Tbilisi State University and Associate Professor; and Irine Kurdadze, Director of the International Law Institute of the TSU Faculty of Law. The speakers emphasized the importance of the monograph as an in-depth study of the relationship between modern international and national law, noting that it would make a significant contribution to the development of maritime law and international law. They also highlighted its practical importance for legal scholars and practitioners.
Dr. Eka Siradze introduced the main provisions of the monograph to the audience. The author noted that the work details all treaty and legislative initiatives implemented at international, regional, and national levels over the past 100 years, as well as international courts decisions concerning the right of navigation in internal maritime waters and territorial seas, and the right of navigation of ships carrying military, nuclear, and other hazardous cargoes.
The presentation of the monograph was held with the active involvement of the professional community.
