Jaba Samushia, an academician and the rector of Tbilisi State University (TSU), participated in a conference organized by San Diego State University Georgia (SDSU). At the event, Georgian and international experts discussed the importance of the internationalization of higher education in Georgia and how to promote it.
Representatives of San Diego State University Georgia, the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, as well as SDSU’s partner Georgian universities participated in the conference “Internationalization of Higher Education in Georgia.”
The conference participants discussed implemented and planned projects related to the internationalization of higher education in Georgia, as well as the challenges of higher education internationalization. They also discussed the results and importance of cooperation between Georgian and American universities in the context of internationalization, as well as higher education policy using the United States as an example.
The conference also featured panel discussions, where participants shared their experiences in promoting international cooperation and improving educational standards.
Since 2015, San Diego State University Georgia has been collaborating with Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, and Georgian Technical University to implement joint programs in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, and Chemistry. Currently, the Computer Science program is underway at TSU.
