Jaba Samushia Meets with PhD Students Winning Grant Competition

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, met with the students who were awarded grants from the State Grant Competition, which was announced by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation with the objective of providing financial support to PhD programs.

 

In 2024, 17 out of 39 winning projects (43.6% of winning projects) were submitted by PhD students of TSU.

 

During the meeting, the winning doctoral students spoke about the goals of their grant projects. Rector Jaba Samushia stated that the victory in the competition represents one of the initial successes of those young people who are poised to make significant contributions to the field of science. “Tomorrow these individuals will engage in significant research endeavors, encompassing both fundamental and applied research. I have had the opportunity to familiarize myself with the grant projects and they all are very interesting. An assistant position will be announced for young scientists at TSU, where doctoral students will be able to participate. This project will facilitate advancement in your scientific career. I encourage you to consider participating in this contest. I would be delighted to hear any of you present lectures in the auditorium,” Jaba Samushia said at the meeting with the doctoral students.

 

Within the framework of the call, PhD students were permitted to submit project proposals in the scientific fields defined by the scientific field classification as follows: Natural Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Medicine and Health; Agricultural Sciences; Humanities; Social Sciences; Georgian Studies.
