For the first time in the history of Georgian universities, a computer sports club has been established at Tbilisi State University. During the presentation, Tbilisi State University Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, congratulated the students on the club’s establishment and wished them success in their future endeavors.
“Computer games are already becoming a sport. The whole world is moving into a realm of global networks with immeasurable resources, and failing to use them would be a crime. This is the future. You can create programs yourself. If you turn this activity into a profession, in addition to participating in sports competitions, you will have great opportunities in the future. I will help you, the young people, have access to a space equipped with modern technology, where you can gather and work,” Jaba Samushia told the club's student members.
Kakhi Kuchukhidze, President of the TSU Student Self-Government, said that this is the first time a club like this has been established in a Georgian university. “The computer sports club is a very important initiative for our university. Our doors are open to innovations. By introducing cybersports, we will diversify student life and take it to a new level. We live in the 21st century, the century of digitalization. We must keep up with all this and offer students new projects,” Kuchukhidze noted.
The Computer Sports Club will bring together students interested in cybersports. Within the framework of funding student projects, computer sports championships will be held. Also, a cybersports base will be created - a space equipped with the necessary equipment, where members of the TSU team will train and later compete in national and international championships.
The Computer Sports Club was established with the support of the Student Self-Government and the Georgian Computer Sports Federation.
