Tbilisi State University Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, visited the TSU Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Center, where he viewed products created by TSU students, learned about the ongoing activities in the FabLab and Drone Laboratory, and met with the student authors of innovative research.
Students from the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences presented their research "Medical and Ecological Applications of Optical Spectroscopy", which they are conducting at the Physical Process Modeling Training Laboratory.
“Our startup idea involves researching ways to monitor human health using optical spectroscopy. Optical spectroscopy is widely used in the medical field; however, the optical ankle-brachial index (ABI) developed by us has no analogues in the world. The method is fast and non-invasive. It can also be used in ecology and many other fields,” noted Luka Tsulukidze, a TSU student and one of the authors of the research.
At the initiative of Rector Jaba Samushia, the Physical Process Modeling Training Laboratory will receive new computer equipment. This will allow young researchers to collect and process data. “It is important for the university to involve young people in scientific research and encourage them. We are ready to support their innovative scientific ideas and help them participate in national and international scientific forums,” said Jaba Samushia.
The TSU Center for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation aims to identify innovative ideas in science and technology and provide scientists with the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial and startup skills. The Center is responsible for creating and developing products and services such as knowledge transfer through training and seminars, stimulating innovative ideas, popularizing science, consulting idea authors, developing mechanisms that support idea implementation, increasing access to services for scientists and researchers, and developing support mechanisms for commercialization. In this regard, the Center provides support for idea authors and scientific research.
