Jaba Samushia Attends AUF Meeting in Romania

 

Jaba Samushia, Rector of Tbilisi State University and Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe, attended the meeting of Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Rectors’ Board of Central and Eastern Europe in Iaşi, Romania.

The meeting was hosted by Tudorel Toader, President of the Conference of Rectors of AUF in Central and Eastern Europe. The participants of the meeting discussed the issue of establishing a common francophone scholarship for students of Central and Eastern European universities, under the auspices of AUF. This will promote the study and popularization of the French language, history and culture. According to TSU Rector Jaba Samushia, francophone scholarships will be announced in various universities participating in the meeting, including in TSU, and students who know French will be eligible to apply.

The Francophone University Agency (AUF) is one of the largest associations of higher education and research institutions in the world. It brings together more than 1000 universities, colleges, university networks and scientific research centers. TSU has been a member of AUF since 2008. In 2023, Rector Jaba Samushia was elected Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe at the Rectors’ Conference held in Bucharest, upon the nomination of the Georgian delegation.
