Jaba Samushia, the Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, met with participants of the Student Employment Forum. The forum, organized by the TSU Student Service and Career Development Center, featured more than 50 companies and two employment agencies, as well as over 500 job openings.
“It is important that both private and state-owned companies that are present at the forum operate successfully in the Georgian market. This event sparked a lot of interest among students, many of whom expressed a desire to work with these companies. One of the university’s missions is to take care of student employment alongside with education,” said Jaba Samushia. He thanked the organizations participating in the forum and noted that companies benefit from employing motivated, educated, young staff.
About 1,000 TSU students and graduates from undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs attended the Employment Forum. In addition to meeting with employers, they had the opportunity to receive career counseling from the Student Service and Career Development Center. A raffle was held during the forum for students and graduates.
The Employment Forum is held regularly at TSU. Every year, approximately one thousand students and recent graduates participate in the forum. More than 60% of them start their careers in various companies after interviews.
The Student Service and Career Development Center aims to promote students' full integration into the university environment and support them in developing the general skills necessary for their personal, professional, and career development. This will help young people realize their professional and social potential.
The Career Development Center conducts more than 20 career development training sessions for students and graduates every year and holds more than ten meetings with potential employers each week. On average, students and graduates receive information about more than 40 job openings and internship programs each week. The Center also holds over ten individual career consultations each week.
