Jaba Samushia Holds Working Meeting with AUF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe

 

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia held a working meeting with Mohamed Ketata, Regional Director of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) for Central and Eastern Europe and other representatives of AUF.

The parties discussed the development of cooperation between Tbilisi State University and the Francophone University Agency (AUF) and the implementation of joint projects to support the teaching of French language. They also evaluated the results of the activities of the Central and Eastern European Regional Office of AUF at the University.

On the initiative of Rector Jaba Samushia, a joint meeting of Francophone universities in Central and Eastern Europe has been planned and will be hosted by TSU. “Mohamed Ketata is a great friend of our country, his role in the development of the Francophonie is very important. We are ready to implement step by step all the projects we have planned together”, Jaba Samushia noted.

Mohamed Ketata, Regional Director of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) for Central and Eastern Europe, said that Tbilisi State University is an important partner for AUF. The representatives of the delegation noted at the meeting that the purpose of their visit was to assess the implementation of the AUF strategy in universities. They expressed their willingness to support the strengthening of French language teaching at TSU and to promote cooperation between the partner institutions.

The Francophone University Agency (AUF) is one of the largest associations of higher education and research institutions in the world. It brings together more than 1000 universities, colleges, university networks and scientific research centers. TSU has been a member of AUF since 2008. In 2023, Rector Jaba Samushia was elected Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe at the Rectors’ Conference held in Bucharest, upon the nomination of the Georgian delegation.
