Jaba Samushia Congratulates TSU Student Choir on Victory in International Competition

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia met with the members of the TSU Student Choir, the winners of the international competition THE WORLD CHORAL CUP 2024, and presented them with certificates of appreciation.

The TSU Choir was awarded a cup and a gold medal in the international choir competition held in Barcelona.

“I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to Tbilisi State University and each of its students on receiving this esteemed award. This triumph represents not only the success of the university but also that of the entire country. The university will continue to provide support in order to facilitate further success in the international arena,” Jaba Samushia stated at the meeting.

A total of 52 teams from 34 countries participated in the event, which was organized by INTERKULTUR. Following two rounds of competition, only eight teams proceeded to the final stage, among which was the TSU Student Choir, which received the highest rating.

Lasha Mirotadze, the director of the TSU Student Choir, spoke about the future plans and thanked the university for its assistance.

The TSU Student Choir was established in 2015. Its repertoire is diverse, encompassing Georgian, European, African-American and contemporary choral music. Since its establishment, the choir has participated in international festivals and national competitions on an annual basis, garnering numerous awards.
