The basketball players of Tbilisi State University brought the Georgian Cup to the university, where the champions were received in a solemn atmosphere by the Rector of Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia, administrative staff, students, professors and fans.
Rector Jaba Samushia thanked the players, coaches and management of the TSU basketball club. “Thank you again for making us so happy. You have written history. When future generations read the history of TSU, your success will surely be written there in golden letters. Winning the Georgian Cup twice in a row is rare in the history of Georgian basketball. We hope that we will participate in European tournaments as well. Tbilisi State University will support you as much as possible,” said Jaba Samushia, addressing the basketball players.
“It is great that we have so many fans at the university. We see and feel the support of the university and the contribution that TSU makes to the development of basketball and sports in general. We basketball players try to justify that support on the court. On behalf of the boys, I thank you for this recognition, we will try to bring more joy to our fans. We will spare no effort to repeat last year’s result,” said the best player of the Georgian Cup tournament, TSU basketball player Kakha Jincharadze.
The basketball team of Tbilisi State University became the winner of the Georgian Cup for the second time in a row. TSU basketball players defeated Iverioni, Gori, 92:81 in the final.
Last season, TSU basketball players won the two highest titles - the Georgian Cup and the Super League and participated in the qualifying stage of the FIBA European Tournament.
