The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia hosted the President of Lanzhou University (China), Chun-Hua Yan, and other members of the delegation. Joint scientific and research projects, possibilities of exchange programs and issues of future cooperation between the universities of the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
Rector Samushia briefed the guests on the history of the university and the country and expressed his desire to deepen cooperation. “Our university pays great attention to the study of the history, culture and languages of the countries of the Far East. We have a Sinology program in the Faculty of Humanities, whose students benefit from exchange programs with the help of the Chinese Embassy. However, we have a desire to strengthen this cooperation, especially through exchange programs, to give more students, professors and researchers the opportunity to deepen their knowledge,” said Jaba Samushia.
The members of the delegation thanked the Rector for his hospitality. The President of Lanzhou University, Chun-Hua Yan pledged his support to TSU and its Rector in the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects and expressed his readiness to deepen the future partnership.
It was agreed at the meeting to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation for joint educational and research activities between TSU and Lanzhou University.
