Jaba Samushia Receives Greek Ambassador to Georgia

The Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia, held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Greece to Georgia, Maria Theodorou.   

 

The sides discussed the Georgian-Greek relations in the historical context, as well as the possibilities of joint projects and exchange programs between the universities of the two countries. The Rector noted that since its establishment, the University has been particularly concerned with the study and development of the Greek language and culture in Georgia. For her part, Greek Ambassador Maria Theodorou focused on the experience that exists between Georgian and Greek educational institutions. The Rector of TSU expressed his desire to give more students and professors the opportunity to deepen their knowledge through exchange programs. The importance of the historically interesting materials related to Greece kept in Georgia was noted. According to the Rector, these materials will be very valuable for those Greek scholars who are interested in studying and researching this field.
