During a working visit to Turkey, TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia and Consul General of Georgia in Istanbul Aleksandre Jishkariani met with the representatives from two of Turkey’s top universities. During the meeting with the Rector of Bosphorus University (Boğaziçi University), Prof. Mehmet Naci Inci, Rector Samushia discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two universities, including student and academic staff mobility, and joint applications within the framework of the Erasmus+ project.
As part of his visit, the TSU Rector also met with Istanbul University’s Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Gülsüm Ak. The conversation centered on renewing cooperation between the universities, deepening existing cooperation in Turkology, as well as exploring the potential for joint applications to the Erasmus+ mobility program. Additionally, the parties discussed organizing joint scientific projects between the Rustaveli National Science Foundation and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and developing applications for research grants.
The parties have agreed to establish a section dedicated to Georgian language and literature in the new building of Istanbul University's library. Tbilisi State University will provide the book fund for this section.
Additionally, as per the TSU Rector’s initiative, a visit by the Rector and the Vice Rector of Istanbul University to Tbilisi State University has been scheduled.
