Economic challenges in the modern world, radical changes, Georgia’s place and role in global economic processes, as well as possible scenarios for the development of economic processes were discussed at the 7th International Scientific Conference “Challenges of Globalization in Economy and Business” that was opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on November 4. The conference is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics and Business of TSU.

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli welcomed the participants and congratulated them on the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics. “In the modern era, universities, through carrying out educational activities, play a special role in the formation of an innovative ecosystem, which, in turn, promotes Georgia’s economic growth. Therefore, along with supporting scientific research, one of the main goals of the Georgian government is to ensure equal access to quality higher education,” Minister Chkhenkeli said.

Georgian and foreign professors and doctoral students are participating in the conference.

Acting Rector of TSU, Jaba Samushia noted that TSU professors are actively studying the challenges facing the economy of Georgia. “Today’s conference confirms that our academics are actively trying to study the difficulties and international challenges facing Georgia’s economy. It is very important that the conference is international and scientists from different countries are attending it together with their Georgian peers,” Jaba Samushia noted.

The papers of Georgian and foreign professors and doctoral students presented at the conference represent not only the field of theoretical interest of individual researchers, but also the analysis of practical aspects of problem solution.

Dean of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business, Giorgi Gaganidze said that the conference focuses on the topics that are crucial in the world economy this year. “How will the world economy look like at the new stage of globalization, what is the regional context of the world economic development for us - the conference is mainly focused on these issues. Most of the reports will touch on the novelties of the world economy, as well as how Georgia should prepare for and meet these novelties,” Giorgi Gaganidze noted.

About 80 scientific articles prepared by Georgian and foreign scientists will be presented during the two-day conference and 14 sections will be working.
