10th International Congress of the Spanish Society of Iranian Studies (SEI)

The 10th International Congress of the Spanish Society of Iranian Studies (SEI) – “Iranian Studies - A Bridge between the East and the West” was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on October 20. The event was organized by the Society of Iranian Studies and the Department of Iranian Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Faculty of Humanities, TSU.
 

Orientalists from universities and scientific centers of Georgia, Spain, Iran, Poland, Germany, and Great Britain participated in the congress.
 

The congress was held in a hybrid regime. Reports were presented on various problems of ancient and modern Iranian history, culture, literature, Persian language and its diverse problems, centuries-old relations between Iran and other countries, including Georgia.
 

Two books were presented within the framework of the congress: Mohsen Bahram Nezhad (Qazvin) - “History of Rostom Khan, the Georgian Military Commander” and Mandana Tisheyar (Tehran) - Persian translation of Georgian stories.
 

The congress was supported by Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts, and G. Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia State University.  
 

The Congress of the Spanish Society of Iranian Studies is held every year at various universities of the Kingdom of Spain. After successful forums, SEI decided to expand its boundaries. The 8th forum was held outside Spain in November 2018 at the University of Tehran (Iran). The anniversary congress of the Spanish Society of Iranian Studies is hosted by Tbilisi State University. It is worth noting that President of SEI, Prof. Tea Vardosanidze is a graduate of TSU.
