TSU Delegation’s Working Visit to the University of Granada

Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), George Sharvashidze, professors and representatives of TSU Administration paid a working visit to the University of Granada (Spain) as part of Erasmus+ international mobility program.

During the meeting, George Sharvashidze and Rector of the University of Granada, María Pilar Aranda Ramírez discussed broad range of issues, among them the prospects of future close cooperation between the two universities, participation of the University of Granada staff in international accreditation of TSU programs, invitation of language specialists to teach Spanish language and literature at TSU, development of joint programs, international accreditation of educational programs, development of institutional development projects and sharing experience in many other spheres.

During the visit, Marine Kobeshavidze, head of the Spanish Philology Program of the TSU Faculty of Humanities met with Antonio José Manjón-Cabeza Cruz, director of the Department of Spanish Language at the University of Granada, and Professor Esteban Tomás Montoro del Arco of the Department of Spanish Language. The professors exchanged their experience in terms of learning and teaching the Spanish language. Moreover, the prospects for developing future exchange programs were planned. In particular, Spanish philology teachers will arrive in Georgia, while Georgian Spanish philology students will undergo studies at the University of Granada.

A working meeting was also held between Professor Irine Kurdadze, Director of International Law Institute of TSU Faculty of Law, and Professors Luis Martínez and Carmela Bernárdez of the Department of International Law and International Relations. The participants discussed the convergence of international law educational programs as well as the prospects of future collaboration.

Noteworthy that Erasmus+ is the only opportunity to familiarize with and introduce international standards of higher education. Tbilisi State University is actively using this opportunity amid the pandemic. It is the fifth visit of the TSU representatives to a European university within the framework of the EU program.
