Final Meeting of TSU Artificial Intelligence University Strategy Working Group

A final working meeting was held at Tbilisi State University to discuss Artificial Intelligence Strategy. Those in attendance included TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia; Zviad Gabisonia, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; faculty deans; and administrative representatives.

At the meeting, Jaba Samushia spoke about the importance of TSU's artificial intelligence strategy in relation to the university’s development and the transformation of modern educational processes. He emphasized that the strategy would improve the teaching quality and create an innovative, safe and ethical environment for students and academic staff. In addition, Samushia noted that TSU aims to emulate European practices and implement new standards, enabling the university to remain a leader in Georgia and the region.

Zviad Gabisonia discussed the document digitization project implemented by Georgia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, which generates digital copies of diplomas issued in Georgia for international recognition. “Artificial intelligence is a global challenge, the management of which requires a responsible approach. Tbilisi State University is becoming one of the leaders in this area in Georgia, which is an important step for developing our country's education system,” Gabisonia said.

TSU is the first higher education institution in Georgia to develop an artificial intelligence strategy. The university is drawing on the experience of European regulations in this area, particularly the Artificial Intelligence Act adopted by the European Union in 2024, which includes strict standards for personal data protection, risk classification, and definition of responsibilities required for the education sector.
