A delegation from Israel, led by David Bitan – a Knesset member and head of the Knesset’s Israel-Georgia Friendship Group - visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The delegation was greeted by Nino Gvenetadze, the deputy rector of TSU. The discussion focused on the 35-year relationship between the two countries and the study of the Hebrew language and history at TSU.
Notably, TSU was the first higher education institution in Georgia to offer Hebrew language instruction in the 1940s. Itsik Moshe, the head of the Israeli House and the first representative of the Jewish Agency in the former Soviet Union, attended the event.
