A meeting of the Editorial Board of the University Encyclopedia was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). Under the leadership of TSU Rector, Academician Jaba Samushia, the members of the Board discussed the development of the concept of the encyclopedia, its form and content, and exchanged opinions. “I think that the university encyclopedia is important for the next generation to become familiar with the people who make the history of the university. By creating the encyclopedia, we want to emphasize once again that the university played a very important role in the country in the 20th century, and it was the university that made the greatest contribution to the development of all fields,” said Rector Jaba Samushia.
In turn, the TSU professors said that they welcome the initiative to create the encyclopedia and will actively participate in the process of its creation together with their students. “As the life of the university continues, so should this encyclopedia. It will not have a finished form, and new editions will be created with time,” said TSU professor Vladimer Papava.
Employees of the National Archives of Georgia, university professors, representatives of faculties and students will be involved in the process of creating the encyclopedia of Tbilisi State University. Rector Samushia has already informed them about the future of the encyclopedia and asked them to start working on it. Zurab Gaiparashvili, the head of the TSU Library, and the library staff are also involved in the work on the encyclopedia.
